Your home in the center of Granada
The Alhambra de Granada
The Alhambra and the Generalife presides over the city of Granada. It is the number 1
monument in Spain and the 8th Wonder of the World.
There are three main parts of this citadel: the fine Nasrid Palaces, hosting the iconical Courtyard of the Lions; the gardens of the Generalife, where the Arab kings recreated their very own earthly paradise, and the unconquered fortress of the Alcazaba.
The Historic Center
The Historic Center of Granada, where La Casa de la Lonja Tourist Apartments are located, is the Christian core of the city, where the Catholic Monarchs planned their spiritual capital. The Cathedral of Granada presides the whole neighbourhood. It was built in Renaissance style and was erected on the grounds of the former Great Mosque of the city in 1501.
Next to the Cathedral you will find the Royal Chapel, which was built in Gothic style and was chosen by the Catholic Monarchs for their pantheon. Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand are here buried, next to their daughter, Queen Joanna the Mad and her husband, Philip the Handsome and the Prince Miguel. Besides its impressive architecture, you will find fine pieces of great historic value which were owned by Queen Isabella herself.
